Celebrating Unity in Diversity: Acorn’s Sinhala & Tamil New Year Festivities
At Acorn, we believe that our greatest strength lies in the unity of our people, and this year’s Sinhala & Tamil New Year celebration was a vibrant testament to that belief. The event transformed our office premises into a hub of color, laughter, tradition, and togetherness.
What made this celebration truly remarkable was how all Strategic Business Units (SBUs) came together, competing and collaborating as one. Team spirit was on full display as employees participated in friendly games and activities under different “house” groups, fostering camaraderie and collaboration across departments.
The event was filled with joy as traditional New Year games like Aurudu Kumara – Kumariya (Aurudu Price and the Princes), Wikata Andum (Funny Costumes), and musical chairs brought out the playful spirit in everyone. From young executives to senior leaders, everyone joined in with enthusiasm, creating lasting memories.
No celebration is complete without food, and the New Year spread did not disappoint. Tables were lined with a mouthwatering variety of traditional Sri Lankan delicacies, from kiribath and kokis to aluwa, mung kavum, each dish carrying a piece of our cultural heritage and lovingly prepared for all to share.
More than just a festive occasion, this celebration was a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together. Across religions, ethnicities, and job roles, we stood united in honoring tradition, building bonds, and creating a workplace culture where every voice is valued.
At Acorn, we don’t just celebrate the New Year, we celebrate people. Because together, we are always stronger.
